Music built to picture. Never sourced.

Grauhaus Music is a Los Angeles–based collective of composers specializing in original music for advertising and film.

Founded by Emmy Award–winning composer and creative director Jason Slack, who spent over 20 years as an advertising creative, the team brings a deeply story-driven approach to every project. We are passionate about the role music plays in supporting picture, building sonic worlds with emotional depth, clarity, and intention.

We compose entirely bespoke scores for each job. We do not use music libraries, catalogs, or pre-existing tracks. Every note is written from the ground up in direct response to the visual, allowing for a level of precision, nuance, and emotional alignment that sourced music simply cannot achieve. Instinctively understanding when to step forward and when to pull back, we shape the emotional arc of a film with clarity and restraint.

Our process is collaborative and integrated. We work closely with agencies, directors, and editors from early concept through final mix, ensuring the music feels inseparable from the image.

The Grauhaus studio is an ever-evolving combination of modern and vintage instruments, including synthesizers, drum machines, guitars, and tactile outboard gear. We prioritize real sound and real performance, embracing nuance and imperfection to create music with character and dimension.

The result is distinctive, story-driven work designed to elevate the image and crafted specifically for each project.
